The Frida Way
Communication, Relationship and Trust – key components in creating a healthy and inspiring environment for learning
The wellbeing of each child is essential and a prerequisite for providing a successful learning environment. Hence, ever since the foundation of Fridaskolan (eller kanske Frida Education?) in 1993, focus lies on creating and maintaining a social climate where each child and student gets the opportunity to grow, to feel confident and to nurture a desire to learn.
The aim of this course is to provide the participants with the knowledge and skills to create a healthy and inspiring learning environment. The design of the course is based on information (input), opportunities for dialogue and reflection and experiences in authentic teaching contexts.
The content of the course relates to the following themes:
- Building strong relationships: A continuous and conscious work to create trust and respect among children, students, and staff
- Participation and Engagement: Finding the motivation in each student and providing the tools to lead their own learning process
- Structures for learning: Providing structure, variety and diversity in the learning process – individually and in collaboration with others
- A holistic approach: Collaboration around students’ well-being and various tools to promote students’ mental and physical health
- Systems Theory: A theoretical point of departure and a tool to get a holistic view on the student as part of a larger system
The course includes an introduction to the Swedish school system and to the background of Fridaskolan. During the course the participants will also get a “taste of” Swedish culture and nature. A social event will be included in the surroundings of the location of the course.
